Born in Jandowae, Queensland in 1973. Deb started singing in her parents band at the age of three. The first competition she entered into was when she was eight years old, singing a duet with her older sister and walking away with 2nd place. By the age of fourteen Deb had learnt to play the drums and became the drummer in her parents band till she left town in 1994 to pursue her music career.

By the time she was 18, she had become proficient in playing the drums, organ, guitar and piano, and started teaching the drums and guitar full time; entering her students into competitions and Trinity College Exams. Debs' student base consisted of 38 students.

She has played in and been a part of the "Maryborough Excelsior City Brass Band" from 1986 - 1994, winning several competitions playing the Xylophone. The "St Stephens Junior Choir" from 1985 - 1994, she had joined the "Toowoomba Brass Band" from 1994 - 1996 and gained her Bachelor Of Music Degree in 2001.

Her academic accomplishments include the completion of her 7th and 8th Grade Trinity percussion, Grade 4 AMEB for piano and theory and Grade 3 for AMEB trumpet and clarinet.

She now teaches on the Gold Coast at several different schools, specializing in percussion and multi-instrumental teaching. She still teaches privately and all her students achieve high results through AMEB or Trinity examinations.

COMPETITION RESULTS

  • 2002 - 1st place in open instrumental - playing clarinet (GC CMC Festival)
  • 2002 - 1st place in senior duet - with Robert Vogrin (GC CMC Festival)
  • 2001 - 3rd place in open instrumental - playing xylophone (GC CMC Festival)
  • 2000 - 1st place in senior duet - with Robert Vogrin (GC CMC Festival)
  • 2000 - 1st place in vocal group - with Robert Vogrin, Ray Cooper and Ken Deakin (GC CMC festival)
  • 1999 - 1st place senior duet - with Robert Vogrin (GC CMC Festival)
  • 1999 - 2nd place in senior female vocal - (GC CMC Festival)
  • 1999 - 2nd place in senior female vocal - (GC CMC Festival)
  • 1998 - 2nd place in senior gospel section - (GC CMC Festival)
  • 1998 - 2nd place in senior gospel section - (GC CMC Festival)
  • 1989 - Best set drummers award
  • 1995 - 1st place percussion soloist
  • 1994 - 2nd place open percussion soloist
  • 1994 - 1st place open champion (MARYBOROUGH)
  • 1993 - 1st place percussion soloist
